OHSWEKEN, May 13, 2025 – Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) held a Pinning Ceremony on April 30, 2025, to celebrate the 2024-2025 cohort of Practical Nursing Students. This tradition, rooted in Florence Nightingale’s legacy from the 1860s, marks the pivotal shift from student to professional nurse. The ceremony brought together staff, nursing faculty, pinners, friends and family to celebrate this milestone of SNP graduates.

For over twenty years, SNP has partnered with Mohawk College to deliver the Practical Nursing program. The ceremony began with a traditional opening and Ganǫhǫnyǫhk led by Indigenous Knowledge Guardian, Eddie Thomas. SNP President/CEO Rebecca Jamieson welcomed attendees and extended her congratulations and best wishes to the graduates as they embark on their future careers. Following her remarks, speeches were presented by Nursing Faculty, Holly Cowan; SNP Nursing Development Specialist and Lab Instructor, Jessica Chard; Class Representative, Corrie Tveit; and SNP Associate Dean of Health
Services, Amber Skye.
