Programs

Teacher Education Program

Content: The Teacher Education Program equips you with the essential knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to thrive as a confident, capable, and compassionate educator. Through a blend of academic coursework and hands-on co-curricular opportunities, you'll develop a deep understanding of the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum and gain the tools to support diverse learners in dynamic classroom environments.
Build expertise in instructional design, assessment, classroom management, and inclusive education. Strengthen your ability to collaborate, lead, and communicate effectively within school communities. With a strong foundation in reflective practice, problem-solving, and evidence-based decision-making, you'll graduate ready to make a meaningful impact in education—today and into the future.

Elders Circle Partnership

Content: Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP), in partnership with two Elders Circles, is developing a community-based certification for fluent Mohawk and Cayuga language
teachers. Modelled after the Red Seal Program, this initiative formally recognizes experienced educators who have gained their skills through traditional learning, community involvement, and lived experience. It aims to validate and support those already teaching, ensuring their vital work in language revitalization is acknowledged and sustained. Rooted in cultural knowledge and guided by Elders, the program reflects a commitment to educational self-determination and the long-term preservation of Indigenous languages.

Environmental Education Program
Credential: Diploma
Status: In development
Content: Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is currently developing an Environmental Education Program. This innovative two-year diploma program is designed to fast-track students through four consecutive semesters, allowing them to complete their studies without traditional academic breaks. The program will integrate Western environmental science with Indigenous ecological knowledge, preparing graduates to address pressing environmental issues through a culturally informed lens. Emphasizing hands-on learning, land-based education, and community engagement, the program will equip students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to become leaders in environmental stewardship and sustainability within Indigenous and broader communities.

Master of Arts in Ǫgwehǫweh Languages

Status: In development
Content: The Master of Arts in Ǫgwehǫweh Languages is a two-year graduate degree program, taught on the Six Nations campus, in which Hodinohsó:ni language and grammar are the core areas of study. Graduates develop strong research, evaluation and critical thinking skills in their studies, moving through a program that allows them to further develop and demonstrate their language ability. Additionally, graduates will identify problems and propose solutions, both individually and collectively, contributing to language revitalization efforts in all its forms, drawing on learned theoretical frameworks, practices, pedagogies, and constructs presented in coursework.

Paramedic Program (2-year Diploma)

Content: The role of a paramedic is both rewarding and challenging, requiring skill, compassion, and quick decision-making when lives are at stake. At Six Nations Polytechnic, our two-year Paramedic Diploma program prepares students to be on the front line of medical care with a strong foundation in Indigenous knowledge, community values, and culturally responsive practices. Through our collaboration with Six Nations Paramedic Services, this program will provide students with a unique community-based experience, gaining enhanced skills and training in the community. Graduates are equipped with the specialized skills needed to serve diverse communities and begin a meaningful, highly valued career in emergency health services.

Paramedic Program (1-year Advanced Diploma)

Content: As a practicing paramedic, you already understand the challenges of providing care in urgent and complex situations. The Advanced Diploma in Paramedic–Indigenous at Six Nations Polytechnic builds on your professional expertise, deepening your ability to manage life-threatening emergencies while integrating Indigenous knowledge and culturally responsive approaches to care. Through this program, you will expand the skills you bring to your community and your profession—enhancing the quality of care for those in need, strengthening employment opportunities, and contributing to healthier futures.
