BRANTFORD, September 2, 2025 – On August 27, 2025, Six Nations Polytechnic STEAM Academy hosted an unveiling event that announced its new name, effective immediately, as Six Nations Polytechnic Secondary School (SNPSS). The event marked the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s evolution, with a name that better reflects the growing student population, expanded program offerings, and the unwavering commitment to providing a unique learning experience that is grounded in Indigenous culture, community, and values.

SNPSS is a tuition-free private high school located in Brantford on the Haldimand Tract within Hodinohso:ni territory. Since opening in 2017, SNPSS has offered both applied and academic pathways, as well as unique programming that sets it apart from traditional high schools. This includes language classes in Mohawk and Cayuga, the Grade 9 Ȩhsáhdok (You Will Grow) Land-Based program, and trades programs in Welding and Cook. These programs emphasize land-based learning and strong community connections to prepare students for real-world success.

The unveiling event was a meaningful celebration that honoured the school’s growth and the vision behind its new name. Educational partners, community members, long-time supporters, and friends gathered to mark this important milestone with an afternoon of conversation, connection, and recognition of the journey that led to this point. Guests enjoyed refreshments and a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the start of an exciting new era for SNPSS.

As part of the celebration, thoughtful remarks were shared from Rebecca Jamieson, President and CEO of Six Nations Polytechnic, and Judy Reuben, Director of SNPSS. Their remarks highlighted the school’s history, its deep community roots, and its bright future in Indigenous education.

“At Six Nations Polytechnic Secondary School, we are dedicated to supporting every student's growth through inclusivity and culturally supportive learning opportunities. Our school is a place where every student belongs, is supported, feels safe, and has a voice. SNP Secondary School is redesigning education to foster connection, purpose and real-world readiness. SNPSS is open to all who wish to learn with us."
