Honours Bachelor of Arts in Ogwehoweh Languages

The Honours Bachelor of Arts in Ogwehoweh Languages (HBAOL) is a fully accredited (honours four-year) undergraduate degree focusing on Mohawk or Cayuga language and is organized into four streams: language, grammar, lifelong learning, and community engagement. Graduates develop strong communication, research, evaluation and critical thinking skills in all four streams, moving through a program that allows them to develop and demonstrate the ability to identify problems and propose solutions, both individually and collectively, contributing to language revitalization efforts in all its forms.

After successful completion of the first year focusing on foundational courses, students will select the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Ogwehoweh Languages degree program or the Bachelor of Arts in Ogwehoweh Languages. Throughout the Honours program, you can expect to have an immersive language experience, taking courses like Master Apprentice, Language Practice, and Language and Grammar 4. Additionally, students will become versed in Indigenous Research Methods and other topics of their choosing.
