Fall 2021 Plan Letter

May 6, 2021

Dear SNP Teaching & Learning Community,

SNP closely monitors the local and provincial COVID-19 situation. Our plans for Fall 2021 take into consideration the vaccination programs currently in progress and the likelihood that public health measures will allow for in-person learning come the fall.

We are therefore planning for in-person learning in September following safety protocols (e.g., wearing masks, enhanced cleaning protocols, and physically distancing). SNP will be prepared to continue online delivery, with the exception of mandatory hands-on training programs, if directed by Public Health for the safety of our staff and students.

Throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, we focused on ensuring that our campus can safely operate our trade shops and healthcare labs. We will continue to make refinements to our learning environment for all programs as we safely transition our valued teaching staff and students back into a shared academic setting. Our main priority is and continues to be, the health and safety of our students and staff.
In the meantime, our summer programming will continue in fully online or blended learning formats.

• Our Additional Qualifications Experiential Education course will remain in an online format, delivered asynchronously.
• Our Personal Support Worker, Intensive program, delivered in partnership with Mohawk College, will follow in a blended delivery model, having lectures online with labs and placement in person, following all Public Health guidelines.
• Practical Nursing, delivered in partnership with Mohawk College, will continue with a blended model, having lectures online and labs in person.
• Our Indigenous Wellness and Addictions Prevention program, delivered in partnership with Canadore College, will continue with online delivery.
• Pre-apprenticeship programs, scheduled to begin in August will also follow a blended learning format, with online classes and scheduled in-person shops.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in our area and update the SNP community as our plans develop. This year has been challenging but the perseverance we have seen in our students and staff is inspiring. Continue with the perseverance you have shown thus far and stay safe throughout the summer months.
