Annual $50,000 contribution over 19 years will provide direct support to learners at Six Nations Polytechnic

OHSWEKEN, ON, September 26, 2025 – Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) and Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) are proud to announce a transformative $950,000 commitment to support students pursuing higher education at SNP.

Made possible through SNGRDC’s investment in the Oneida Energy Storage facility, $50,000 will be distributed annually over the next 19 years to cover tuition costs for Six Nations members attending SNP.

“This funding commitment reflects the importance of SNGRDC’s work in creating projects that deliver lasting returns for the Six Nations community,” said Nicole Kohoko, Executive Director of Corporate Administration at Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation. “We are investing in the future generations. This commitment will help enrich the community by providing students with the resources they need to complete integral programs at SNP, including Indigenous language programming.”

The SNGRDC Scholarship, established through this funding commitment, will be launched in 2025 and sustained through 2044. With this addition, SNGRDC’s total scholarship commitment to Six Nations post-secondary students rises to $2.46 million over 20 years, reinforcing SNGRDC’s mission to foster a healthy community for today and the faces yet to come.

"This multi-year scholarship commitment from the SNGRDC for SNP students is historic. It is the first SNP student scholarship fund of this value and duration,” said Rebecca Jamieson, President & CEO of Six Nations Polytechnic. “This scholarship is a significant investment in our people and our collective future. SNP acknowledges the many contributions to Six Nations from the Development Corporation and extends much gratitude for the support given to our students.”
