This course is designed to assist educators seeking to enrich professional practice and extend knowledge, dispositions and skills in the development and delivery of Special Education programs. Participants will engage in a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical foundations, learning theory, mandated policies, program planning, development and implementation, instructional design and practices, assessment and evaluation, the learning environment, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning in the Special Education field. Through these explorations, candidates strengthen professional efficacy by gaining in-depth knowledge, refining professional judgment and generating new knowledge for practice. Theoretical frameworks, agencies, legislation, and resources that assist Indigenous students in Ontario are included throughout the course.
Withdrawal/Refund Schedule:
- End of first week of class: 100% (minus $50 admin fee)
- End of second week of class: 75% refund (minus $50 admin fee)
- End of third week of class: 50% refund (minus $50 admin fee)
- End of the fourth week of class: 25% refund (minus $50 admin fee)
- After the fifth week of class: 0% refund
- Last day to withdraw without academic penalty: After the 8th week of class
Admission Requirements: Teachers certified with the Ontario College of Teachers are eligible to take AQ courses. Ontario B.Ed students may take courses prior to membership with OCT, if they have met all the requirements to graduate and if they have applied to the OCT for a Certificate of Qualification.
Program Fee: $685 (includes a $50 non-refundable admin fee)
Non-certified teachers will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
