Six Nations Polytechnic Mourns the Loss of Former SNP President Linda Staats

OHSWEKEN, March 3, 2023 – It is with great sadness that we extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Linda Staats. Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) acknowledges, with gratitude, Linda’s role as the founding CEO of Six Nations Polytechnic (1993-2009).

With Linda’s leadership and commitment, SNP stayed true to its purpose as a community-based place of learning with a focus on the retention of our culture and languages. Linda was a strong person who persevered, sometimes against all odds.  From humble beginnings at the condemned Number 5 School, Linda led the development of the Ohsweken Campus starting out with portables and then in 2003, with much community support, moved SNP into the building in use today.

Linda fostered leadership and confidence with the staff, instructors and students. She built strong alliances. The positive impacts of Linda’s contributions to life-long learning at Six Nations live on. Those of us who had the honour to work with Linda, know the special person she was. She will forever be a part of Six Nations Polytechnic.
