November 3, 2022 - Six Nations Polytechnic Brantford campus was evacuated today due to a bomb threat. The safety and well-being of our staff, students and educational community is our top priority. Shortly after noon today the Brantford Police Service attended the building advising they had received information that there was a bomb in the building. The name and room location they were given did not match any name or location within our building. We took immediate steps to evacuate everyone safely to our athletic centre gymnasium. We worked cooperatively with the Brantford Police Service to conduct a search of the premises where nothing was found.
Out of additional precaution, we closed the building for the day. Post Secondary Classes were cancelled and SNP STEAM Academy students spent the remainder of the day in the athletic centre gymnasium.
All classes will resume as usual tomorrow and the building will be open for regular operations. Any staff or students that would like to talk to someone about this event can reach out to student support staff or our employee assistance program.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the Brantford Police Service for their quick response, to our staff and on-site security for assisting in the evacuation, and to our students for making their way out of the building in a quick and orderly manner. All threats to Six Nations Polytechnic are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school at 226-493-1245.
