The purpose of the Haudenosaunee Language Proficiency Summit (HLPS) is to demonstrate the most effective teaching methods and language learning strategies that support the exponential acquisition of Rotinonhsón:nih languages. The summit seeks to bring together administrators, teachers and learners to improve quality of instruction and efficiency in creating speakers of Rotinonhsón:nih languages. The HLPS is based on the results of a year-long study recently completed by Six Nations Polytechnic Institute called, "Pathways to Creating Speakers of Onkwe'honwehnéha at Six Nations."
