Program Description

The Continuing Education Artisan Series is a collection of non-accredited workshops focused on three streams: Hodinohso:ni raised beadwork, textile arts, and jewellery arts. The overall series is designed for new learners who wish to pursue a new skill set or expand on their existing experience.

The highlights of the series include a raised beadwork medallion, ribbon dress, ribbon skirt, and a wire-wrapped stone pendant, among more class options!

The workshops will commence in March 2018 and continue until June 2018.

Limited spaces are available within each of the classes. Please see the individual class descriptions for more detailed information, including dates/times, workshop fees, and whether or not students need to bring their own materials / fabric. 


Preregistration is required for each workshop

  • In-person registration & payment can be done at the Six Nations Campus' reception office. 
  • Registration is not complete until payment is received. Those who have submitted their workshop fee will take priority within the limited class space. 

Note: Payment must be received 2 business days prior to the workshop date by the Six Nations Campus reception office. The hours of operation are 8:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Through this introductory course (a two-day session), students will learn how to operate a sewing machine and apply basic sewing skills. This course will focus on the use of elastics in ribbon skirt waistbands.

Students will be required to bring their own fabric & ribbon.

Jewellery Arts: Wire-Wrapped Stones

Students will challenge their planning and wire-shaping skills in the fine balance of capturing a stone within a delicate and aesthetic wire frame. They may choose any variety of jewellery pieces to create, this technique typically lends itself to pendants. 

All supplies will be provided, including a variety of natural semi-precious stones.

Textile Arts: Ribbon Dress

Through this introductory sewing course, students will learn the basic construction of a ribbon dress, sewing basics, basic operations of a sewing machine, following a pattern, and ribbon appliqué. This course is designed for those new to dressmaking therefore basic construction of a simple dress will be the focus over the course of three-days. Collars, cuffs, and zippers will not be taught.

Students will be required to bring their own fabric & ribbon.
